Rail Europe, the leading platform for train booking, is thrilled to announce a major enhancement to its offer: seat reservations on Renfe’s long- and medium-distance trains for customers travelling with Eurail / Interrail Global Passes are now available on all Rail Europe’s channels, making travel across Spain easier than ever before.
This latest addition strengthens Rail Europe’s commitment to seamless European train travel, ensuring Eurail / Interrail passholders can explore Spain’s renowned rail network with the same convenience they enjoy across other top destinations. Since 2023, Rail Europe has provided passholder fares for SNCF, Lyria, Eurostar, Trenitalia, and RhB. The inclusion of Renfe now enriches this service, offering access to high-speed AVE, Alvia, and Euromed services, as well as Intercity trains and international connections with Spain and France. Media Distancia routes will soon be available, further expanding options for travellers.
With this extension, customers holding either a Eurail or Interrail Global Pass can easily determine if a seat reservation is required for the journey, view the associated costs, and make a reservation online — eliminating the need for long queues at the station and ensuring a stress-free travel experience.
“The addition of Renfe’s passholder fares to our platform is a game-changer for travellers eager to explore Spain with ease,” says Jürgen Witte, Chief Product and Technology Officer of Rail Europe. “Spain is a major destination in Europe, and this enhancement ensures Interrail and Eurail Global Pass holders can navigate its world-class rail system seamlessly. We are proud to further expand our passholder fare offering, empowering customers to discover Europe with unparalleled convenience.”
Renfe’s passholder fares apply to Spain’s most popular domestic and international routes, including:
Madrid → Barcelona (AVE)
Valladolid → Burgos (Alvia)
Barcelona → Valencia (Euromed)
Madrid → San Sebastián (Intercity)
Marseille → Madrid (international AVE)
Eurail and Interrail passes have long been the ultimate way to experience Europe by train. Sold worldwide, these iconic rail passes offer unlimited travel across 33 destinations, giving travellers the freedom to explore at their own pace. The Eurail Global Pass remains the most popular choice, widely recognized as the easiest way to discover the continent and immerse in its rich cultures.
With this latest expansion, Rail Europe reaffirms its position as the leading platform for rail travellers, ensuring they have access to the best routes, seamless connections, and booking experience — all in one place. This also reinforces Rail Europe’s already extensive inventory in Spain, covering the country’s full range of rail operators, including Renfe, iryo, and OUIGO Spain.
